On the 6th june 2016, the first ever Robotic Lab of Jammu& Kashmir was inaugrated at the Mahabodhi Residential School in Leh, by the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Parsana Ramaswamy & team of Global Himalaya Expedition.
The Robotic is grand prize that the school received on coming first out of 2500 schools from all over India as part of the Design for change challenge 2015. The student from Mahabodhi school in leh competition against students from the best of schools across India and won the competition.
These projects of Mahabodhi school were done at the Third Pole Education Base, wich was setup in Mahabodhi campus in august 2013 by Global Himalayan expedition team.
The cocept of the Third pole Education Base is to provide interactive and experential learning to the student studying in the remotest communities of the world. The students are introduced to Science and Technology through interactive medium such as Robotic, Video documentaries, Project on various theme. The Third Pole Education Base has resulted in students increasing their knowledge on practical application of how science & technology interact.
From project that range from creating music out of waste material to creating biogas plants to developiong their on green houses to making paper out of waste, the students learn skills that enable them to tackle the challenges in their communities.
The projects that the students have done at the Third Pole E-base have won the Design for Change award twice in a row, in 2014 & 2015. It is a proud moment for students from Ladakh competing against the best school of India & winning. As students are developing the technical mindset at the E-Base, the vision is to have students from the region develop skills that will uplift the region to be the most developed in the world. As mention by the DC, Mr Prasanna “This is really amazing what the students of Mahabodhi School are doing at the Third Pole Education Base”.
GHE plan to setup more education base in the regiom and accelerate the progess of the region.
