An important meeting was held at a Buddhist centre in Munich, Germany on 9th May, 2017 between the Department Water Management and Soil Protection, Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Projection and Technical University of Munich, Germany with Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, the founder President of Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) and Save the Himalaya Foundation (SHF), New Delhi. The two parties from Germany sign a MoU with the two organizations in India (MIMC & SHF) to undertake a research project to address the Urban Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus approach is an integrated urban planning approach offering cities a more sustainable future development pathway.
The research study aims to analyse the viability of urban waste water recycling and reuse in Leh, taking the MIMC campus Devachan as a case study. The study is being funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for Environment and consumer Projection and implemented by the Technical University of Munich, Germany.
